CH801
Slow, ugly, and rather slow.
What happened to the plane project?
Life... became a professor in 2009 and then got into lots of house/misc projects

August 2010

August 2010 - rebuild the boat

2011 Feb 02. Got some snow.

July 2011 - boat is back in Canada (never replaced the canopy...)

2011 July 4

June 2011 - Dad's little Sylvan gets a floor

2011 December. Replace the water heater.

Done in one day.

April 2013 - basement office reno

Basement office done. July-ish 2013

March 2014 - Start of kitchen reno

December 2014 - We did everything - only thing we had somone do was the granite countertops. We built the cabinets, did th eelectrical (including a new subpanel), plumbing, new floors, painting, appliance installs, lights, drywall, cleanup...

2014 - Aug Master Bedroom closets

July 2016 - new windows

We did all the windows in the house... replacement inserts. The first took us 5-6 hours. By the end, we could replace a window in about 90 minutes.

2016 Summer - paint the house (Carmen did LOTS of the work)

2017 Dec. This is going to be our new house...

nice kitchen

This is our bathroom...

View out of the master bedroom (11x12...) to the garage.

The stairs to the attic are shot - needs to be held up with a stick!

Back of garage showing a huge shed (at right) and a wierd extension on the back of the garage.

Sanded and put several coats of poly. Well, Carmen put the poly while I drank coffss.

Garage roof after cutting out the hole in the roof where the neighbors said the 'coons were getting in. I found one dead and fully dried out raccoon in the garage. Yummy.

Bye-Bye Mr. Shed. We had to get a permit to take this down.

July 2018 - Dad and I went to Oshkosh for the day. Got a photo of Dan Niendorff's 801.

We replaced ALL the windows.

Nice hat.

We had it like this for ~2 days. Lucky we have understanding neighbors!

We got some great neighbors. You know how people say \"let me know if you need any help\" and things like that? Well, I needed some help with this huge window and the neighbors really stepped up!

Fixed the fence.

Fixed the garage wall

The window came from the farm in Harrisville.

We paid a company to do the siding and the roof. Siding was done in a day. Roofing was another day. Gutters were done in a few hours.

Bye-Bye Mr. Weird-Garage-Extension-that-is-all-moldy

We had to get a permit to take this down.

Side of the garage is a little strange with the T-11 siding but it's better than before and not such an eyesore.

Cold-storage room in the basement. Dank-dark-but with a nice sump pit (we already replaced that sump pump...)

Storage room. Much nicer.

Breezeway as we got it. No photo of the ceiling - it was wood panel that was hanging down and moldy from a water leak...

Breezeway at the side door -

Carmen tried out some stenciling.

1/4 drywall on the ceilings. Paint and new trim.

Hall closet #1. House came with no interior doors including no door on this closet. Well, we'd rather have drawers and shelves so let's turn this into a built-in.

Nice gut. Nice chin.

Hallway closet with doors. Look like it was there all along.

This is the bathroom as we bought the place. Already gutted except for the toilet. I tried to talk Carmen into keeping those sweet pink tile soap holders...

The ceiling has copper tubes - part of the original heating system in the house that used a boiler and circulated hot water through the ceiling.

Our neighbor is a tile guy and he did this old-school mud base and helped shim the studs for the goboard. We did the tile work. Carmen is really good with tile.

Small and simple

Oct 2019 We had a 5.6 kW solar system put on the house. (We did not do this ourselves...)

Hmmm. That door looks kinda bad.

Looks kinda better.

Santa gave us an early present - a cement mixer.

Hmmm.. That garage does not look so nice...

Ben made those cabinets last summer. There is a 4' bench as well.

The unskilled labor.

The boss.

August 2020. The pandemic pig. Got this iberico puerco from Florida. Shared it with the neighbors. Kurt and Sharon came by too (properly distanced). Not a bad pig for people that are 90% vegetarian.

AIRPLANE PARTS!!!
